Why Invest in Coaching?

Although prices vary, coaching is an investment and although I could talk about how much it costs to be a professional coach, the question to ask yourself is, what is the value to me (you) of using coaching to make a change?

A few years ago I was at home and there was a knock at the door for a delivery.

I hadn’t ordered anything and opened the parcel with great interest. Inside were some very expensive scented candles. There was no message, just a delivery note. Of course I couldn’t leave it at that and contacted the company that sent the candles. They probably shouldn’t have told me, but I discovered they were from a former client (from over a year previously). Of course I contacted them to thank them and asked what had made them send them so long after the coaching had finished. Their response was that with my help, they had changed their life and they loved their new career direction.

I don’t know how it changed their life or what it was that they loved about their new career direction. As I wasn’t supposed to know they’d arranged the gift, I didn’t probe further.

It could have been a more stimulating or fulfilling role, it could have been the impact on their work : life balance, their wellbeing may have improved, maybe they earned more money. Whatever it was, it changed their life for the better.

What is the value to you of changing your life for the better?
