maximise YOUR Personal
& professional potential

Welcome!

I’ve been coaching for many years and I love it!

I’m often asked who I coach and it varies. Over the years, I’ve coached many people across many sectors, including senior leaders, business owners and professionals.

However, looking back through my clients, there is a very clear theme that connects them – change!

It may have been a change they wanted to happen e.g. a new job, a new career, a new business, a completely new direction in life, to improve their relationships.

The change may have just happened e.g. just set up a new business, a new job, a promotion.

They may have been getting ready for a change
e.g. retirement, redundancy, moving to a new location.

It could also be that they wanted to change their habits e.g. do more exercise, eat more healthily.

Sometimes they didn’t even know what the change was, they just knew they needed one.

Underpinning all of these, there is a second theme – mindset e.g. guilt, confidence, motivation, self belief, confusion and it’s mindset that usually led them to coaching. If their mindset was where they needed it to be, they probably wouldn’t have needed coaching.

So if you have a change coming up, a change you’ve just made or something you’d like to change, get in touch to see if coaching could help you and if I’m the right coach for you.

About coaching

What is Coaching?

Coaching is forward looking and helps individuals or teams to work towards their goals, establish how they are going to achieve them and support them on their journey. The International Coaching Federation defines coaching as “partnering with clients in a thought provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximise their personal and professional potential”.

It is not to be confused with counselling, psychotherapy, advice or consultancy.

What can coaching be used for?

Most individuals want to change or improve something in their personal or working life at some stage and coaching is designed to help them do that. That change could be to gain confidence, manage their work : life balance, accelerate their career, seek a new career, set up a new business, return to work, retire from work, improve their performance at work; the possibilities are endless.

Team coaching is an excellent approach for both new and existing teams. It is aimed at the team achieving a common goal, paying attention to both individual performance and to team collaboration and performance.

What are the benefits of One to One coaching?

There are numerous benefits from coaching, for the client, the organisation they work for and their teams.
Coaching is one of the most cost effective development solutions I have worked with, as it focusses on that client’s needs.
It gives them the space to work towards a goal, with the coach guiding and supporting them to achieve it.
They are encouraged to come up with their own solutions and therefore much more likely to implement them.
The increased motivation and performance improvements that ensue, have a positive impact on the client and their employer.

Who can be a Coach?

The coaching profession is currently unregulated, and anyone can be a coach. However, professional coaches are usually members of professional bodies such as the International Coaching Federation (ICF), the European Mentoring and Coaching Council and the Association of Coaching and as such, agree to a code of practise and ethical guidelines. Many coaches also have recognised qualifications from accredited bodies, such as the ICF, the Chartered Management Institute and the Institute of Leadership and Management. I have in excess of 350 hours of accredited coaching training.

How does one to one Coaching work?

One to one coaching is an interactive and forward-looking process of focussed discussion between the coach and the client. Through listening, questioning and observation, I adapt my approach to help my client identify what it is they want to achieve and how they will achieve it. My role is to support and encourage throughout this process.

How long do the sessions last and how many will I need?

A typical programme of one to one coaching is 6 x 1-hour long sessions over a 6-month period. However, this can be adapted to suit your needs; if you only want a couple of sessions, that is absolutely fine. You can arrange what you need to achieve your goals.

How much does coaching cost?

I don’t quote fees here, as they are dependant on a number of different factors, such as travel time and the number of coaching sessions that a client commits to. However, I appreciate that it is an investment and you need to be sure. This is why I always suggest a free pre-coaching session, so you can be sure coaching is right for you and I am the right coach for you.

How does Team coaching work?

Team coaching is often confused with group coaching or facilitation. A team is a group of people with a common goal. To be effective, the team must be small enough for each team member to be actively involved in the team coaching sessions.
Like all coaching, it takes place over time with several sessions. However, the programme usually begins with a short diagnostic process. This is usually done with the individual members of the team and provides a baseline for the ongoing team sessions.

The manager as coach

Good leaders recognise that coaching is an excellent approach to getting the best from their team members.
have been arranging coaching training for managers over many years and design and deliver workshops.
I also work as an associate for a company that can provide Institute of Leadership and Management accredited programmes up to level 7.
